The safety and health of our employees and our customers is number one. We take ongoing measures to ensure this and have numerous ISO, EKH and VCA certificates. In doing so, we make a demonstrable contribution to SDG-goal 3: good health and well-being.
Hoisting, lifting, and working at height and in depth must be done safely. Naturally. This starts with high-quality lifting and hoisting equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE). At the same time, the professional competence and safety of our own and temporary employees must also be guaranteed. That is why we work with an extensive QHSE-system and entirely according to the NEN-EN-ISO 9001 and VCA** standard. Read more about our KAM-system.
Training and education for customers
We offer our customers training in safe lifting and safe working at height and in depth. During the training we go into detail on the current laws and regulations for safe and correct use of the resources and we simulate practical situations.
Training and education of employees
We keep our own employees up to date on current safety standards per product group and/or area of expertise through the Mennens Tech Academy, our internal corporate training, periodic training, and courses. All our service engineers are also EKH certified. The EKH is committed to ensuring the highest possible level of safety of lifting and hoisting equipment and draws up strict working regulations and inspection schedules based on, among other things, the Working Conditions Act, NEN and Machinery Directive.
SafeWork app
Safety is our business. For the customer and for ourselves. With the SafeWork app, we enable our employees to easily report unsafe situations. Both internally and at customers' sites. The more unsafe situations we solve and eventually prevent, the smaller the chance of an accident.
Certificates
Mennens' commitment to the safety and health of employees and customers is recognized by numerous certificates. For example, we are ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, GWO, EKH and VCA** certified.
Safety Culture Ladder
We also participate on our own initiative in the Safety Culture Ladder: an international assessment method to measure safety awareness and action in companies. The emphasis here is on the mentality and behavior of employees. In 2022, we underwent an external audit for the first time, opting for Step 3 for our location in Dongen. However, according to the auditors, our service engineers were already partially acting on Step 4 and 5*."
Sustainable employability
Stimulate movement
Through the It's my life app, we encourage employees to exercise more. Here, every 1,000 steps or 15 minutes of cycling earns one Fitcoin. The Fitcoins can be spent in the catalog on offers in the areas of exercise, nutrition, relaxation, care and work. Employees can also donate their Fitcoins to the charity we care about: Ambulance Wish Foundation.
Personal employability scan
Periodically we conduct a Personal Employability Scan. To measure how our employees score on sustainable employability. We use the insights to further promote sustainable employability.
Preventive medical examination
We also offer all employees a Preventive Medical Examination (PMO). We do this to prevent absenteeism and to identify any complaints at an early stage, so that we can address them proactively.
Health and safety: supplier Code of Conduct
We also expect our suppliers to guarantee safe and healthy (working) conditions for employees. And that they guarantee safe, quality products for our customers. To ensure this, all our suppliers sign our "Code of Conduct”. This is based on internationally recognized standards for human rights, working conditions, environment, and anti-corruption.
* The Safety Culture Ladder has 5 steps (ascending).
- Step 4: Proactive - Safety is a high priority and is continuously improved.
- Step 5: Progressive - Safety is fully integrated into all business processes.
Sustainability
At Mennens, sustainability is an integral part of the strategy. We reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption. We are continuously working on circularity. We contribute to SDG goal 13: climate action.
Community Involvement
We care about our (local) environment. We see this as an opportunity to make a positive contribution to our world.
Diversity and Inclusion
Mennens embraces differences and values a diverse workforce. Because variation in ideas, backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures leads to a broader perspective and innovative insights.
